BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. — From humble beginnings in the trucking industry to becoming one of the Tri-State’s most recognized names in garage doors, Door Boy has been opening doors—literally and figuratively—for more than five decades.
From Trucking Repairs to Garage Door Services
The company began in 1968 as P&F Door and Trailer Repair, servicing tractor trailers, container doors and loading dock equipment. In 1972, its focus shifted toward residential and commercial overhead garage doors. That is when the company rebranded as Door Boy—a name now synonymous with quality, reliability and expertise.
By 1982, Door Boy had moved into its current headquarters in Berkeley Heights, where it launched one of the region’s first garage door-exclusive showrooms and parts departments. Since then, the company has become a household name across New Jersey, southern New York (including Staten Island) and eastern Pennsylvania.
“Our growth has always been rooted in standing behind our work,” the company said in a statement. “We’ve built lasting relationships with customers by delivering fast, professional service—every time.”
That dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 1999, Door Boy received the Joseph A. Caputo Dealer of the Year Award, one of the highest honors presented by the International Door Association, during its annual convention in Toronto.
Today, Door Boy offers a wide range of products and services. From new garage door installations and custom builds to automatic openers and repairs for all makes and models, the company has grown and continues to grow today. Each service vehicle is fully stocked with thousands of parts, allowing technicians to complete most repairs on-site and often on the same day. The service team remains in constant contact with headquarters, ensuring efficiency and responsiveness.
Beyond residential service, Door Boy also specializes in gates and entry solutions, including automated gates, access controls, and opener repairs, as well as commercial equipment such as sectional doors, roll-up doors, fire doors, hollow metal and aluminum doors, and loading dock systems.
Industry Accreditation Reinforces Excellence
In 2005, the company earned accreditation from the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA), an independent foundation formed by three industry trade associations. The IDEA accreditation is recognized throughout the field as a marker of professional excellence. It is also used by top-tier companies to assure customers of their commitment to the highest standards.
Door Boy’s footprint is visible across dozens of communities, including Summit, Chatham, Westfield, Bernardsville, Bridgewater, Clinton, Watchung, Warren, Hillsborough, Somerville, Millburn, Morristown, and Short Hills.
Whether you’re looking to install a custom garage door, schedule maintenance, or explore access control solutions, Door Boy’s experienced sales team offers free consultations—including in-home estimates—to make the process as convenient as possible.
